Knowing About Abuse and FGM

What Is Abuse?

Abuse is when someone hurts you or treats you in a way that makes you feel scared, sad, or unsafe.

 Abuse can be:

  • Physical abuse: when someone hits, kicks, or hurts your body.
  • Emotional abuse: when someone says mean things, makes you feel worthless, or scares you on purpose.
  • Sexual abuse: when someone touches your body in a way you don’t want or asks you to do things that make you feel uncomfortable.
  • Neglect: when adults don’t give you the food, care, or love you need.

If this is happening to you, it is not your fault and you deserve help and care.

What Is FGM?

Our Core Mission: Awareness & Support

FGM stands for Female Genital Mutilation.

This is when someone cuts or hurts a girl’s private parts.

FGM is not safe, it is against the law, and it can make girls feel very unwell or be in pain for a long time.

No one has the right to do this to you.

If you are worried about yourself or someone else, please tell a trusted adult, like a teacher or nurse.

MY BODY BELONGS TO ME

  • My body is mine, and I am the boss of it.
  • No one should touch me in a way I don’t like.
  • I can say NO if something feels wrong or makes me uncomfortable.
  • Secrets about touching or private parts are not safe secrets—I should tell an adult I trust.
  • It’s never my fault if someone hurts me.

Remember:

If someone tries to touch you or asks you to keep a secret about your body, tell a trusted adult straight away.
